The quote continues and gets better but stupid Goodreads has a letter limit

Freud says that our mother is our first protector from the outside world, but it quickly changes to our father, who, according to Freud, is our strange superior power who we both fear and love in equal extremes. He suggests as we grow up, we create God as a wish fulfillment of sorts. Therefore we are not made in Gods image, he is made in our parents image… more specifically the “childhood image of our father”
