Quite a bit of purple writing, that’s not a complete turn off but could have been dialed back to deliver the message more clearly. There was also a section on whale baleen in corsets and the ‘woes of women in constructing garments’ which has been proven an exaggeration by many a historian and those today who wear corsets. Makes you wonder how much of the rest of the book is dramatized/poorly researched.
