What Malachy Sr. did is beyond despicable. Was he not supposed to love his dear Margaret the most? Fuck addiction.

Finished chapter one & it’s so satisfying to recall details about the book as I read them. I do remember loving this the first time I read it in 2021/22, and it feels like I’m just reconnecting the dots now.

This book is heartbreaking, and yet McCourt manages to make it so damn hilarious. Genius.
