bouj fakhro This book though! Would love to hear your thoughts Cathy!

Cathy Hildreth I also loved this book! And, I am not quite sure why. It was so compulsive that I could not put it down. I loved the sparse prose but the protagonist was pitiful. It was a tragic story. I thought a lot about why he entitled to the book “Flesh”. And I agree wholeheartedly with your review. I think he was trying to tell us in this story that the “gratifications or sins” of the flesh (i.e. sex) are not what brings any true meaning to our lives. He was so pathetically lost after being taken advantage of by an older woman when he was too young to differentiate between love and sex. He never recovered from that and led a meaningless existence. Do pedophiles have any idea what they really do to people’s lives?? 😳 Anyway, it was a disturbing book but i read it quickly and I think it is deserving of The Booker Prize (and I don’t always like the Booker Prize winning novels, although I usually read them). My son read the book in one day. He loved it, too. It was a sad ending. He was left entirely alone.

What are you reading now?
