Prose is clean & clear, fast to read, but seems younger than TGUWG because there is zero subtext or complexity. Chinese inserts that made sense for TGUWG don't work here: 1) they are overexplained, 2) the novel is set in China so everything should be spoken & written in Mandarin, no need for constant translations within a translation.

So far I feel nothing for either love interest. They're both a bit too bipolar.
