Trying to finish this because it was highly recommended by the clerks at Bank Street Bookstore, but I just...can't. Turns out I hate all circuses, even (especially?) magic ones.

Recommended by the clerks at Bank Street Bookstore, who say middle grades kids love this book, but it's not my cup of tea. I'm realizing I dislike the creepiness of circus genre overall, and the contrived-ness of this book in particular.
