A frustration-inducing, important read. The qualifiers for asylum and immigration, and how there are so many barriers or vague parameters in place focused on deterrence of gaming the system, versus, I don't know, actually helping people, reminds me of SNAP, and the mixed reactions of shutdown. What kind of benevolence (?) is structured in response to those who are trying to game it, versus those to whom it helps?
