Act 3 Scene 1 On the surface Hero tells Margaret to lure Beatrice into eavesdropping on a conversation between Hero and Ursula. She tells her to have Beatrice hide in the bower where honeysuckles, ripened by the sun, hide from the sun because of their pride. Is she saying that Beatrice is proud? The plan is for Ursuala to praise Benedick more than he deserves and Hero to say how lovesick he is over Beatrice.

Badly written sonnets, one inher handwriting and one in his. The two couples marry. They strike up the music and dance.

Act 5 Scene 4 In Winter's Tale, Apollo confirmed Hermione's innocence, and here it is the friar pronouncing Hero's innocence. Everyone played a role in her downfall, but it was a consequence of reactions to manipulation by Don John. The ladies go get ready for the wedding. I love Benedick's use of the word "will" in asking the friar to marry Beatrice and himself. The prince and Claudio tease him about his sad looks.

At this moment R&J PSTD surivors are saying, “Not again!” Goddess of the night is Diana and she was a virgin so that is appropriate. After he is done singing his lament, Don Pedro (Peter) gives him hope that the day will dawn in the east. 2 Peter 1:19 Now in this moment, the tables could flip and Claudio do the unthinkable. Fortunately, the prince is there to talk him out of it.

Act 5 Scene 3 The fool of a Claudio goes to Hero’s tomb to read her epitaph. I love the “die to live” imagery in the play. “So the life that died with shame lives in death with glorious fame.” She is innocent of what she was accused and she died a shameful death. Her name has been cleared, the sin removed, and she can low live in glorious fame. His sings a song of repentence and asks for pardon.

Then he can praise himself to no end. This has so much dialogue that reminds me of JA’s P&P. Benedick and Beatrice are so Darcy and Lizze. Urusula comes with breaking news thta Hero’s name has been cleared. I think this world is more ordered in thinking because spreading lies had dire consequences (slander). I guess it oes today because of sextortion and social. The innocent can still suffer from lies tragically.

While Margaret looks for Beatrice, he reflects about how many good lovesick poets failed and died. Maybe it’s a good thing his poetry is bad. It might mean he’ll live. Benedick tells Beatrice about his challenge to Claudio after she arrives. Beatrice is in an argumentative mood and Benedick takes that as a sign of hope (the quarreling couple). If his conscience is like that of a worm, he will be blind to his faults.

Lit Life brings out nothing is pronounced noting and this play is definitely about the habit of attention. Characters other have it or they don’t to their great detriment. I had forgottent the link to Romeo and Juliet, too. When hold my beer goes astray.
Act 5 Scene 2 It seems that Margaret enjoys innuendo in her banter with Benedict. Then he writes terrible love poetry unlike Lord Peter Wimsey.

Claudio pledges to marry her the next day. It’s a bit like the Laban bait and switch but in a good way. Also like brothers of a dead man having to marry the widow. Borachio vouches for Hero’s virtue and states that Margaret had no idea she was being used. Leonato thanks Dogberry and Verges. Claudio plans to mourn at Hero’s grave, and Leonato to talk to Margaret about her relationship with Boracchio.

Borachio confesses to Leonato next, who bitterly turns to Don Pedro and Claudio and thanks them for the death of his daughter. Both apologize and offer to submit to any penance given by Leonato. In Old Testament fashion, they ask Claudio to marry Beatrice instead. It makes me wonder if they have been tipped off about Hero. Of course, who would want any daughter to marry a numbskull like Claudio.

I get it! It’s right here: “What your wisdoms could not discover, these shallow fools have brought to light.” God uses the weak to make the strong look foolish. Their reason has failed them terribly!!!! They learn the truth about the deception from the man whome Don John paid to do it. I guess Borachio doesn’t want to go to the grave with that secret. Dogberry continues to flaut his stupidity.
