why is this so *randomly* dramatic!
how am i supposed to believe this chef is ambitious for ditching school and leaving her homeland to pursue cooking, when she still has to lie on her resume about haute cuisine experience despite having spent time in paris, lyon, etc. getting a job in a restaurant, regardless of accolades, is generally more about tenacity than anything else so her “struggles” are feeling hollow

let’s also not forget how she randomly fell asleep (?!?) during her test at the very beginning and burnt precious strawberries in the resource poor dystopia this book is set in. what kind of chef would be so reckless with their ingredients? strawberries also don’t take much time to cook down and nothing indicated that she was tired either. so bizarre.
