Just started "Part Three - The Wasps' Nest" and read "Chapter Fourteen - Up On the Roof". After getting stung after uncovering a wasps' nest while reshingling the Overlook's roof, Jack reflects on how his temper and drinking have always gotten him into trouble. Since arriving at the hotel, Jack has gotten a lot of work done on his play, and feels that things will finally turn around for him. Good for you, Jack!

Finished Chapter 32! Jack wakes up from the nightmare, standing over Danny's bed and sweating. He promises never to hurt Danny, then goes to bed and lays there sleepless until 7 AM, when he goes to check the boiler. Hope you can stay true to your word there, Jack! For everybody's sake, including yours!

Jack has a nightmare where he finds an undead George Hatfield in the bathtub of Room 217. He tries to conquer the undead student but ends up getting attacked. Eventually, he finds a cane similar to his father's and beats George with it. But the cane turns into a roque mallet (similar to the one the figure in Danny's visions has) and George turns into Danny. Finally, Jack kills Danny with the mallet. Oh no!

After sex, Jack expresses a belief that the bruises on Danny's neck could have been caused by Danny himself during another precognitive trance, with the dead woman being his subconscious. As Wendy goes to sleep, Jack thinks about their future if they abandon the Overlook, then has an urge to kill Wendy. Before going to sleep, Jack decides staying at the hotel might be for the better, specifically for himself.

Just started reading "Chapter Thirty-Two - The Bedroom". Jack is now having negative feelings about his play, hating his plot and sympathizing with the villain rather than the hero. Meanwhile, Wendy wants to take Danny out of the hotel despite being snowed in. After thinking of ways that won't work, Jack agrees to try to get the Overlook's snowmobile running so the family can leave for Sidewinder.

Just read "Chapter Thirty-One - The Verdict". Jack returns to the kitchen and tells an extremely-worried Wendy and Danny that he saw nothing in Room 217. Wendy and Danny are relieved, but Jack really wants a drink right now.

Just read "Chapter Thirty - 217 Revisited". Jack arrives at Room 217 and finds nothing in the tub at first, but then starts smelling women's soap and hears the shower curtain drawing itself when he starts to leave. He sees a shadow in the tub and after leaving the room, hears something getting out of the tub and messing with the locked door. Then everything ends and Jack leaves. Yikes!

Just read "Chapter Twenty-Nine - Kitchen Talk". After Danny calms down, he tells Jack and Wendy all about his bad dreams about the Overlook, how Dick had hold him about the Shining, and all the bad stuff Dick had warned him about. Then he tells them about his encounter in Room 217. Despite Wendy's pleas, Jack decides to go to Room 217 to investigate for himself. I'm feeling a little concerned about that.

Just read "Chapter Twenty-Eight - "It Was Her!"" As Wendy comforts Danny, Jack goes to the hotel's empty bar, where he imagines drinking and conversation with Lloyd, an imaginary bartender, while feeling he's being watched by Overlook partygoers from 1945. Wendy takes Danny to him and Danny snaps out of catatonia, saying it was "her" who attacked him. And now Jack's feeling suspicious towards Wendy. Uh oh!

Finished Chapter 27! Locked in their room, Wendy cradles the catatonic Danny. She wants to take Danny to Dr. Edmonds's office on the snowmobile, but doesn't want to let Jack near him. Realizing there's no other way, she decides to trust that Jack is sane while awake and will help them get to Dr. Edmonds. She leaves with Danny and goes to find Jack.

Just started reading "Chapter Twenty-Seven - Catatonic". Woken up by Jack's screams from his nightmare in the previous chapter, Wendy finds him in the office, where he tells her about it. Worried about where Danny is, they go to look for him, only to find him on the second floor, catatonic and bruised. Wendy, assuming Jack did it, screams at him to leave him alone and walks away with Danny. At least he's alive.
