Notes:
(1) "... Bubba took a big swig. 'Not as good as a cat's,' he observed. 'But mighty fine just the same. Thank you, thank you very much.'"
- I do enjoy how they pull out all the Elvis-isms to say Bubba's Elvis without actually saying it.
(2) In sum, to me the first decent installment in the series.
- I only recall one graphic sex scene, and it was integral to the plot.

Notes:
(1) "He closed his eyes and seemed to be offering up a prayer. I wondered to whom Eric prayed."
- Some Norse god, if I had to guess—old habits are hard to break.
- Unless, of course, he converted like Godfrey (presumably).
(2) Wait, this whole mess started because Bill... got into scrapbooking?
- Testament to how small-town cozy the books stayed compared to the show.

Notes:
(1) "I was an adult, I told myself sternly; true adults don't have sex just because the other person is skilled and pretty."
- I would hope hookers, gigolos, etc. deal with "true adults"!
(2) "Wow, Eric's blood was awesome. That was a word I'd never used before, but it was accurate."
- For real? Gen-X and she's never said "awesome" before? It's not like it's cussing.

Notes:
(1) "Vampires just seem to like any body fluid, if they can't get blood, and that didn't particularly bother me."
- I guess the bother depends on how the particular body fluid is extracted.
(2) Eric: "... we disapprove of vampires loving others of our kind."
- Does this count as homophobic? You know, for vampires?
- Or is vampire-on-vampire love tantamount to incest?

Notes:
(1) It's notable how most of the vampires in the books are much younger than they are on the show.
- I have to picture Russell Edgington less like his actor and more like Opie, Archie or Ron Weasley.
(2) "At home, there was always something to do … there was the library to go to, or the dollar store, or the grocery."
- Wow, are small-town folk all this easily amused?

Notes:
(1) Alcide: "The vamp that owns it calls it Josephine’s ... But Weres call it Club Dead."
- All else notwithstanding, it's always a treat to stumble upon a titular line!
(2) "Naturally, I immediately checked out what the other women in the bar were wearing."
- "Naturally"? Is this a thing women do?
- I can honestly say, I've never had the impulse nor the inclination.

Notes:
(1) "TrueBlood was definitely proving to be the front-runner among competing blood replacements."
- Interestingly, this spells it with an E, unlike the brand on the show—Tru Blood.
- Sure beats LifeFlow and PureBlood.
(2) "[Sam had] given Bubba a magazine to look at and a bottle of Life Support to sip on..."
- I guess not every blood brand omits spaces between words.

Notes:
(1) This is the point in my re-read where I need to decide whether or not to keep using GIFs in status updates.
- "Dead Until Dark" was the only book that was, more-or-less, faithfully adapted.
- The show diverged enough from "Living Dead in Dallas" that finding relevant GIFs was a challenge.
- "Club Dead" is an even looser adaptation, but I'll give it a go. Why not?
