The way he describes the "pens" that slaves were held in really stands out to me. I don't get how people could do that willingly to other people.

Northup jumped into the kidnapping literally on chapter 2. So now im scared that the rest of the book is going to be a lot of unnecessary commentary and i hate books like that.

you should read incidents in the life of a slave girl by harriet ann jacobs! i just finished it and recommend :D
