Earlier in the book. They get out of the gas station now surrounded by raptors because it’s daylight and the camp-saurs have left.

They make it there and get off the island without tooo much issue.

Come daylight the mama-saurs basically ate the jeep trying to get there eggs out from it. They manage it and little baby Dino’s make it out.

Sarah goes back to the other car to try to jump start it but is caught by a trex and dogson. Stuck under the cars he pushed him out in revenge for pushing her off the boat where the Rex carried him back to his babies. They ate the flesh off his face while he was alive

From here the parallels to the new Jurassic world movie are everywhere.

The good guys go to a gas station where they camp out for a while. Thorne goes out to look for gas and finds that there are camouflaging Dino’s outside staring at him. They manage to get them to leave by turning the lights on and off and shining flashlights on them. This made it hard for there camp to adapt and frustrated the Dino’s.

This explains why the steam vents are littered with bones but not why the raptors seem okay building the nest in the area.

The other curious item is why the raptors seem to be afraid of the lab. Was it that they were following S&K or another reason. T-Rex territory?


Couple final thoughts.
Women characters are much stronger in this book if a little one note.
Writing has been very good, feels like you’re there

Behavioral evolution however can not be inherited through dna it needs to be taught. At Jurassic park however these learned traits are not passed down yet because they didn’t have parents to learn them from. This explains why all the animals seem young or small. They lost a lot of the skills they would have typically had.

Why the bones? Malcom seems to know but my theory is it has to do with volcanos or acidity

They run out of gas’s and need to head downhills to coast away. The raptors at this point foxing S&K back to the trailer where they smoke bomb them and get Malcom.

During all of this we cut back to Malcom who has been thinking.
He theorizes that physical evolution is only half the story and that the driving force for survival is behavioral and cultural evolution.

Earlier in the book S mentioned she would have thought there would be more skeletons or atleast more prey to support the number of predators. Well there are a ton of bones in the raptor nest. Curiously bigger than the raptors should have been able to drag. The area is described as a steam bed.

They see Arby moving and pull the whole cage into the back of the jeep and gun jt out of there back to the trailer.

Malcom gets absolutely toked on heroon
Raptors climb the height hide and pull Eddie over the side. L tries to get Arby onto the roof but A falls off as well. E gets eaten but A makes it into the shark cage. One of the raptors gets the key stuck in its mouth and S&K follow it on the bike. It takes a while but they eventually shoot it

The raptors pull the cage off to there nest. T&RL follow in the jeep.

Thorne uses kings jeep to save Malcom and Sarah. They used rope to climb up the trailer barely making it before the bottom unit fell.

Raptors slowly approach the high hide which Levine is not worried about. They have found a liking for candy bars while eating Kking.
RL isn’t worried about the raptors seeing them but they smelled the candy wrapper he let float away to test the wind earlier and looked up at him

King heading towards the boat is eaten by raptors in front of the good guys.

Dogson wakes up while being eaten by compys (rude). He runs away but they seem annoyed that they couldn’t finish eating. They’re slightly venomous so we’ll see what happens. He hides in a shed

Sarah and Malcom try to save the baby Rex, d stepped on. They make him a cast but mama shows up pissed.
