The Tender Bar oh what can I say. There's a lot but one thing is that I hate JR's father. He's a little drunk B****. Sorry for the language but he just makes me so mad. He leaves JR's life for 10 years comes back promises a trip to the Mets stadium and doesn't even show up. Leaves for another 8 years comes back smelling like alcohol. He doesn't even want to know about JR's life only telling stories about him.

He Graduated!!!!! JR did it. He graduated from Yale. It's not me but it makes me feel good about myself. He was a normal kid, not rich, not the smartest he was normal. This gives me courage to succeed in life rather than give up.

The abstract word in the book is maybe difficult. You can tell is difficult because of the narration JR says. He talks about his life and how he struggles. He doesn't believe in himself any more because of how his life has been going on since he was born. Hes never had a OK life. He has always been needy of money. He also kind of thinks that love causes difficulty.

WOW the impact that an adult can have on a young kid. JR never had a role model to follow but when on summer vacations he and his uncle start to get along. He start talking to him and starts acting like him. Also I feel him when he met his idol. I was shocked and frozen as a statue. I just mesmerized my idol. (Well one of them).

The air was like wine, and the winters were like spring. The simile here shows that the air in Arizona is rich like a sip of wine, and the winter great like a nice spring day. They could have compared the air to an aroma that everyone likes but they used wine because it's more rich in the sense that people drink wine in special occasions and they usually love the wine because of the taste it has.

"... those flash cards ... and behind them my mothers's face, composed of the same lovely colors, her roses-and milk complexion wreathed by auburn hair."-- When he describes his mother's face behind the flash cards must mean he has a lot of memories with her. Since he doesn't have a dad with him, he remembers his mom with the littlest things like a flashcard.

On holidays, after a glass of Jack Daniel's, he'd start to sing, "Chicky in the car and the car won't go- that's how you spell Chicago!" Then he'd pass out...
This quote shows the characterization of grandpa that he is crazy and he doesn't know what he is talking about.

I feel bad for JR and his mother because they had barely started a life and then his mother lost her job and had to go live with his grandparents, There grandparents house is described as a Shit House so it's horrible to live their.
