Did I pick this up again out of pettiness because my husband said he'd read it before me, yes. Yes I did.
That being said I FINALLY have hit the part where the book isn't quite as much of a slog to read. And is more storylike in nature.
I love the depth this book gives to the lore of Tolkein, just the beginning is always so so incredibly dense.

On pg. 54, it honestly sounds like he's describing post-partum depression. I managed to miss that the first time I read it.

I am enjoying this stretch more those first few pages. Largely because the information we are being given now is starting to resemble bits we see again throughout the lord of the rings. The iconic trees, Sauron! I really love the breadth and depth this adds to the world.
