I have no fucking clue where this tender side is coming from, but it’s hard to be mean to someone who’s literally clinging to you and begging you to save them from their nightmares. He relaxes and grows heavier on me.
“Please don’t let go,” he whispers. “Don’t leave me.”
“I won’t.”
“Promise?”
“Yeah. I promise.”

I pull him closer and tuck him up against me. He goes boneless in my arms, and I hold him tight as he cries out whatever is haunting him. Neither of us says a word, not even when he eventually stops crying and falls silent. I wait until he’s asleep, then close my eyes. I didn’t have cuddling my sober stepbrother to sleep on my bingo sheet for today, but whatever. Hopefully this works and I can get some sleep.

The anger that tightens my chest makes it hard to breathe. Losing my shit and ripping them apart for sneaking around behind my back would help ease my rage, but it’s so much more satisfying to play the long game and gather as much information as possible, then use that info to destroy every aspect of their lives that I can. You fuck with me or mine, and you’re going to discover what it truly means to find out.

He draws in a gasping breath and grabs my wrists, but his grip is loose and his body relaxed. I expect to see fear and shock in his expression. His eyes are so bright they almost look backlit, and the sparks in them make him look more alive than I’ve ever seen him. Usually his eyes are totally uninterested in everything around him. The change is exhilarating, and I don’t understand why it excites me so much.

Hi, just wanted to interrupt your reading for a quick second to mention a few things about this story, and series, that you might want to know before diving into it. First, these stories are very different from what you’ve come to expect from one of my books. These boys are over the top, have dubious morals, and are all about the type of toxic love that’s only healthy in fiction. They’re ruthless when they need to be, assholes when they want to be, and they live in a world where there are almost no rules when it comes to not just getting what they want, but also protecting what they have. The world I’ve created for them is a bit crazy and over the top, just like my characters, so you might have to suspend reality in order to fully enjoy the books. This story has a lot of triggers (like a lot of them) and it also explores kinks that not everyone will enjoy. It’s spicy and steamy and will hopefully make you squirm a bit when you read it, but it also has lots of the non-naked kind of action, some sweeter moments, and a strong sense of family to go along with all the heat and steam. If you’d like to see the list of trigger warnings, you can flip to the next page to make sure this story is for you. If that’s not your thing, then skip head, sit back, and enjoy the ride. ~Willow
