Today I read about brain emulation and the path it will take to get there. Bostrom says that most likely what will happen is brain mapping of a small organism possibly a microbe which will then move to bigger emulations. I wonder how far in the future are these advancements in technology to allow us do do this, seeing as we've never emulated any sort of brain before.

I read about seed AI and computational brain emulation. Basically see AI is an AI that lets AI build and learn for itself. Computational brain emulation is a recreation of the human brain in a computer. When reading about the seed AI I was very aware of the possibility of intelligence explosion causing intelligence dangerously higher than humans. I wondered how we would prevent the dangers of that intelligence.

We just finished reading about genetic vs. evolutionary programming for artificial intelligence, and their strengths and weaknesses. Fast with less greater outcome and evolutionary very slow with a much greater possible outcome.
