Eliza had irritated me before; however, that sentiment is now aimed at Higgins's rudeness, which I had proudly cheered for before. This change in opinion might have been constructed by Shaw. He initially framed Eliza to incite annoyance in the readers, but through character development, the readers begin to empathize and support Eliza, especially the female audience because we have experienced similar situations.

Recently I have been reading the first few acts of this piece, and I'm fascinated by the myth it is based on as well as the character development. Higgins is the artist in this case and is sculpting Doolittle into his view of perfection that he'll soon fall in love with. Although I find Eliza to be annoying, I do admit that her initiative and courage is commendable, yet do not outweigh her current imperfections.
