It's definitely the hardest read for me so far by Cormack Mccarthy. Sometimes I have to look up multiple words in the same sentence just to know what was meant. Do not recommend for anyone with less than a grade 8 reading level. Aside from that, a whole lot of scalping and scenes of vague genocide

The main character got mixed up in a sort of war (scalp trade) with Mexicans and the "Indians" where the "Indians" seem to be winning so far in the book. It hasnt been explicitly said but Mccarthy makes allusions to the genocide of the natives in the southern states and Mexico
