I think the writing is simultaneously brilliant and tiresome. The cognitive energy spent on imagining the vistas is halting my motivation to read. I wouldn't imagine these passages with more punctuation... but the sentence are soooooo long dude. I'll keep reading.

The writing in this is so dense - the way actions are conveyed simply underlines how dry the landscape is, how barren the morality of this tale gets. Time and space are warped to give the most crucial, stark representation of the Far West... ever? I'll have to wait and see how far this goes. It certainly *goes* places very early on.

Oh God, the Child.
