I think that Lorena is partially 'broken' beyond repair because of the scarring memories that are constantly brought up from being with Blue Duck. She is still really fragile since the dangerous outlaw kidnapped her - and the only person who comforts her is Gus because he is really patient with her. Gus lets her cry when she needs to, and just brings up a lot of conversation to direct her attention somewhere else.

I think that Lorena is finally starting to get back to normal, but I think that she is a little bit desperate to make a big impression on Augustus because she doesn't want to loose him once they get to Nebraska. I think that Gus has helped her recover so much and she just is scared that she will go back to remembering all the horrors she faced when she was with Blue Duck without Gus.

I think that Augustus is a little overly self confident because on pg. 479 he says to Wilbarger "'I never met a soul in this world as normal as me.'"
This tells me that Augustus thinks he is better than people because he must think that people are always weird.

My favorite part so far is when Augustus found Lorena and Blue Duck and was in the battle with Blue Duck's men. It was really interesting because Augustus knew a lot of cool tricks for when you didn't have any shelter in a battle. It was also my favorite part because Augustus met July Johnson, Roscoe Brown, Joe Boot and Janey.
