That's pretty much the exact way that I tend to write my stories 🫣. When I try to fill in those "gaps" I just kinda write whatever comes to mind and let the story take me where it wants to go ig. I dunno if this really helps 🤷‍♀️

I recommend finding a story structure or plotting method to use. I found that a plotting method/story structure helped guide me in plotting my novel to make it interesting even in sections of the story that could become dull otherwise. The 3-Act Story Structure and Save the Cat are great methods. For my current WIP, I used a template from Jill Williamson on the Go Teen Writers website that helped me plot my novel (the template is titled "Scene Plotting Chart for One POV" under the "Free Downloads for Teen Writers" tab; there is also a template for 2 POVs). I hope this helps.

Best writing tips I’ve seen: (imho)
You can edit a first draft but you can’t edit a blank page
When stuck on a scene but you know what comes after, write the main idea in parentheses. Ex: (our hero does something heroic and saves hinself) then continue story from there
Write your first draft as if you were explaining it to a kindergartener
There’s prob more im blanking on
