Since it seems as likely as not that in a week DONALD FUCKING TRUMP is going to be declared commander-in-chief of the most powerful army humanity has ever known, I ask the good people of the world, what are you stocking your bomb shelters with? Also, half of America? Fuck you. I'm not one of you and I don't like you - stay away from me and my family you scary idiots.

Geoff Re: the Super Bowl - I'm going to see Toni Erdmann and then working on music/cooking a big dinner and not turning on the TV. Fellow Americans, how are you ignoring the Big Game? (Just get back at me for March Madness - that's the exploitative sports event I personally get stoked on...)

Geoff, I'm going to drink Budweiser.

I had the same thought. But it seems to me that there's only an equivalence if it doesn't happen. If we see a major terrorist attack next week in the US by nationals of one of the seven banned counties, after decades of no such attacks, then my default assumption is that it's Reichstag Fire 2. Until then, I'm trying to keep an open mind. Maybe the GOP will convince Trump that it's necessary to respect the rule of law. Though I have to say it's hard to believe.

Saw Toni Erdmann - another contender for best film of the year - don't miss it, folks!

Well, yeah. Truth is, I'm going to be facing about 20 totally unpredictable* taps very shortly soon. Very likely an IIPA'll be up there. [and they'll all be 'meri=kan maid.]

Your comment indicates that you have "progressed" into the conspiracy theory world of the many David Eicke imitators. Your current "safety in numbers" approach is certainly conducive to the market share of those bright enough to keep fighting the last war devoid of an athletic background.

Board games are bored games. The law is invariably an ass, but nonetheless it is followed in the US.

Perhaps it is high time to evaluate the level of human rights existent in the countries inhabited by US critics. It seems fair.

I expect this will be deleted. I don't care. Go ahead and do your big deals. It's all I wanted to say anyway and there is no satisfactory "default" response.

Puppy Bowl is on.

Well, no. I'm just saying, I'll apply normal standards of judging evidence. If an event that hasn't happened for decades suddenly happens at a moment when it's very convenient for a powerful faction, moreover when it's been predicted that the event might well happen, then it's natural to ask whether the faction in question caused it.

But so far, nothing has happened. And if we're lucky, nothing will happen. And if it does happen, all we'll have is strong grounds for reasonable suspicion. Not proof.

Jessaka I understand so well your sentiment towards the bad half of us Americans.

message 1761: by Josephine (new)

Josephine (biblioseph) I admit I have not read all 1,774 comments. *gulp*

Only about 25% of the country voted for Trump, approximately 25% for Clinton, and a negligible amount voted for others. The other 50% did not vote. This is not necessarily due to apathy, but rather the inability to vote. Prisoners are not able to vote despite still being citizens, supposedly. Also, since the signing of the ADA in 1990, very many, far too many, voting locations are still not compliant with government regulations.

I also wonder how many people are counted in the total amount who are not legally allowed to vote, such as aliens.

To misquote the Suffragettes' Song from Mary Poppins, though we adore Americans individually/we agree that as a group they're rather stupid.

Dunno - haven't watched a second of the Big Game - I'm making vegan meatball pasta for the significant other, listening to beautiful music, and drinking 8.5% Flying Dog Salt & Pepper Tripel - in other words - a good Sunday night in Trump's America.

I wouldn't have cut a scene. Apparently Ade shot over 100 hours of film and cut it down to the 2:40. I loved it. Was in tears at the end and laughed hard throughout.

Maybe as a famous Nazi once said, only a god can save us now. I assume in the sense of radical immanence. (Bringing us full circle, I think Radical Immanence might be the title of Beyoncé's next album).
