Planning to read as much of this book as I can today—I see what Steinbeck is trying to do with Lee so cutting a little bit of slack there too

Don’t get me wrong, this book is so good and beautifully written, but the way the Chinese servant’s character is written irks me. Was writing out a Chinese accent really necessary? Also, Lee is a Korean name. It’s an amazing novel so far though, despite all that:/
