Not my usual reading matter; it’s a bit difficult for me to comprehend straight away and keep up, especially not being as clued up on history as I should be - David Crystal clearly knows/has researched a lot. Taking my time as I’m keen to learn more about this, and I’m sure it will become easier to read as the topic gets closer to modern day.
