richie’s court case has oficially been settled and he’s going to philadelphia to an orphanage. he left. on the train. didn’t even get to kiss eddie goodbye. now his entries sit on his lap on the train, not knowing that will be the only thing he has of eddie for the next 2 years.

“i’m not losing another brother.” STOP.

i got to the part where eddie breaks his arm and, man. he is one of the bravest boys there is.

their love is so special.

the friendship between stan and richie is truly truly truly one of the most beautiful things in the world. i’m so glad i have my own little bird watcher in my life.

these are all just things that every single teenager has had to deal with at one point or another. At this moment in time I am reading 15-year-old richie and Eddie sort of navigate this fear of being homosexual but they love being ultimately stronger even faced with things like richie’s past with Henry Bowers, or Eddie’s penpal Will for some reason???

and I think no book is ever going to impact me the way that this one did and continues to do so. Richie’s self doubt and loathing is so relatable, Eddie’s sharp mouth and uncertainty, Stan’s fear of being himself and exploring his wants, Bill’s stutter and the way that he holds himself back, Beverly’s recklessness and at times passivity, Ben’s shyness and fear, Mike’s hardships and unfair treatment…

and now I’m rereading it when I’m 18 about to turn 19 and that’s the age that they are at the end of the book which I haven’t gotten to yet but I think it’s like a huge moment because I’ve been all of the ages that these characters navigate throughout the entire book, and I know what it feels like in every single stage of this book.
