I’m on chapter 2 and wow the first chapter was rough. I knew the book and movie would be different but didn’t expect the assault to be so detailed. In the movie it’s vague and when I saw it at 9 y/o it didn’t feel traumatic. Even rewatching as an adult didn’t prepare me. That scene turned me off but I’m hoping it’s the worst. I’ll read a few more chapters before deciding if I’ll DNF.

Only 1 Chapter in and already SO intense. I've seen the movie but it definitely left out the darker details, so I wasn't expecting it to hit this hard. Reading it feels so much heavier
