Ben is stung by one of the Greivers and tries to kill Thomas, Alby saves him and Ben is banished from the Glade, after being banished from the glade he is now in the maze, I connect this scenario to Ranger's apprentice as in that book, Halt was also banished from Araluen.

Till now, Thomas has found himself in a place called the Glade and is still not used to it, I think Thomas will find the way out of the maze in this book and another conflict would be there in the next book, I also think that he will make friends who will help him to get out of the Glade.
