Read the first act. So far it's similar to Hecuba from Euripides (Which is even mentioned in the play). After a 10 years war, a general enslaves the enemy queen (Hecuba in Euripides, Tamora in Shakespeare) and her children, and then decides to sacrifice one of the queen's children to the gods.
But it seems that Shakespeare made a twist, since the enemy enslaved queen became the empress of rome.
