The chapters on Taliban and the US intervention in Afghanistan are very well put and detailed. The initial chapters in Pashtuns ancient history and poetry were a drag and could have been done away with completely as it doesn’t sit with the tone of the major topics covered in the book. The complete absence of Maps and photos is sorely felt and is something that should be amended in the next edition.
