This book has my mind so tangled… every time I read I feel like my mind is warping everything it knows and making space for this book to fit w the info I already know… but now I feel like I’m rethinking manifestation and even stuff like my own ego-centeredness in relation to the big humongous universe we live in

Wow if I would’ve just kept reading a paragraph ahead I would’ve solidified my statement… Orwell writes that Winston hears himself demanding the whole piece of chocolate as if he was listening to someone else asking… #patriarchy… we replicate the language we hear and so we replicate stereotypes… truly a masterpiece this book continues to be…

Writing this at 3:14, I love numbers and alignments of course. Wanted to note here that I think Orwell does a great job of describing privilege. He describes male privilege so well in this book simply by stating that often Winston felt entitled to things simply because that how he felt. That is the nature of the world. Just as the younger people have a type of privilege too, in ways I feel connected to

A little upset that the young woman is portrayed the way she is, as if only an older O’Brien could actually be a part of the resistance and not a young person… granted I do see what Orwell is showcasing with her. She rebels in a different simply bc she doesn’t know what life was like before, she can’t even read it, and even Winston speaks about it she is clueless bc who wouldn’t be

I love underlining things in this book… things I think are sexist and things I find interesting are probably the top 2 😹
