Does "Mama" dislike Liesel, I feel she calls her /schaumench/ and other German derogatory terms/swears because it's one of her only real ways to show affection? Anywho seems like a strict mean parent to be honest.

I think of another story where a Czech girl was brainwashed to believe her parents died in an airstrike by the allies when they were actually killed in a concentration camp, as Leisel was brainwashed until she heard the word Communist, and remembered her parents cold parents.
