I'm enjoying these hugely, but my word the characterisation and style are perfunctory. It's all about the fantasy worldbuilding and the detective-plot algebra -- fortunately things I enjoy a lot. Couldn't possibly recommend them to anyone who wasn't a tolerant fan of both genres, though.
