So far so good, the Great Rewiring of the 2010s sounds plausible for contributing to the significant increase in feelings of isolation, anxiety, depression, self-harm and suicide attempts in Western countries. (What was happening in non-Western ones?)

Still compelled. Nothing new, but food for thought as I think to how my siblings and I have developed through childhood, adolescence, and into adulthood, and the various potholes we’ve fallen into along the way as Gen Z-ers (me on the edge, them solidly in the group).

Rites of Passage having been abandoned was most salient, especially with blurred/no lines online and increased individualism. Also appreciated the acknowledgement that, at least in the US, part of the safetyism and parenting on defend mode has to do with the increasing competitiveness of college admissions and other determinants of a “good life” and lessened trust in the “village” aka community/society
