I am quite confused. Did Erik kill Michael? Why are they so happy about him dying?

I wonder if Paul will make it into the team. Will he learn to deal with Erik? Or will the rivalry continue?

Why does the lightning strike at exactly the same time every night? Seems to me like the people of the town won't even bother to at least look into it more.
