My book is is realistic because it is about a boy in middle school who plays basketball and has a unique talent for freestyle rapping. He has a family, and has many friends. There also aren't any events in this book that are fantasized, and the whole story could easily occur in real life. Finally, there are many references to present day life, like the NBA, and middle school, and is a realistic fiction book.

is playing better in the games, and has everyone trying to be his friend. At some points in the book, Josh claims that he has "no friends" and that everything is terrible in his life. Josh felt like an outsider, like no one noticed him or cared enough to even acknowledge him, and this led to a large conflict between him and his brother. I think this proves that statement because even the most popular kid, who can get

Based on the plot in The Crossover, the statement, "It is common for every teenager to feel like an outsider sometimes" is supported in this book when looking at Josh's feelings. He has always been popular and the star of the basketball team, and everyone always wanted to be with him and talk to him. Now, all of the attention seems to be on his twin brother JB, and Josh does not like it. JB is dating the pretty girl,

The title of my book is The Crossover. This is a good title because it can represent many themes that take place and have to do with the book. I think that the author chose this title because it is a move in basketball, and also relates to Josh's ability to play basketball, and at the same time create rapping verses, like "crossing over" between them. Also, Josh and JB's dad was known for his crossover, and he sadly

has an innate ability to create rhythmic rhymes like rap music, which helps him play relaxed and calm in the biggest games. Just that basic knowledge of the book alone was enough to persuade me into reading this book.

I chose The Crossover as my independent reading book because it relates to two of my interests: basketball, and rap music. I read a couple reviews on this book, and they were all very positive. This book is about middle school basketball phenom Josh Bell, who's dad was an NBA star, and his twin brother JB, who Josh has always been a little better than. Not only can Josh shoot hoops with anyone in the country, he also
