Really a great biography of the life of an NCO from Britain. He goes to North Africa, is captured by the Germans. Sent to POW camps in Italy. Escaping from first, but caught quickly. Transferred to another camp. Learns Italian with a book and tutoring by a guard no less. Then successfully escapes with two other comrades and joins the Paras to get back in the war.
