Pap was able to make a cavare w his fiend Sylvian. They both break out and are able to stay afloat. Bieber when they get to the island they both get trapped in quicksand. Pap desperately goes to save him but with each wave it makes the sand softer and his friend sinks further down. Three final consecutive waves hit and his friend is gone. How is Pap so lucky throughout all these years? It’s never him but almost is

Pap was caught. He’s sentenced to 8 years in solitary: 3 for stealing gov material to make a boat, 5 for killing the man that ratted him out. After 18 month though he is released for attempting to help a little girl from drowning. The doctor discharges him for medical reasons. He returns to Royale with everyone else.

His friend clousiot has died. He made a deal w the warden not to escape in the next 5 months due to the warden retiring. Hes making friends but also testing their loyalty to see if they’ll revolt w him. He befriended the wardens wife by giving her fish to help w her diet. The wife asks what she can do for him since he helped, he asks for a compass. The new warden arrived. He’s starting to plan his escape.

Papillon was with Indians and ends up marrying sisters. The book is detailed and I enjoy how he explains his experiences. It seems like everyone is rooting for him. It still surprises me how he has help everywhere. Does everyone know who he is? Who was he before all this? I’m still confused on how he lost his friends during the first escape. He’s back in prison due to a nun ratting him out.

He escaped and landed in Trinidad. I’m just confused on why everyone is so nice to escaped convicts. Everyone is accepting and helping a tremendous amount.

Papillon is trying to figure out how to escape. One of his friend was able to so now it’s more difficult for them to escape.
