The book is set in third person view. The protagonist is Frodo there doesn't seem to be an antagonist yet. I am seeing conflicts with the old man named Gandalf and his adventures. The author seems to like to develop minor characters and then developing major characters.

The book is really picking up the hobbit party is coming and the little town is constantly staying hyped for the event. Gandalf seems to have a serious job in the book as he continues to be the center of attention.

The book is off to a slow start. The whole book so far has been about some old man and wealth, and his adventures. I think that at this Hobbit party something to do with this old man is going down. It keeps repeating his wealth and he takes adventures no one can speak about.
