Into part 2, and it's like a different book...so much more authentic feeling and compelling. Part 1 was such a drag, don't know why the author included it. A brief exposition would have told you all you needed to know about the two women's youth...

Third of the way through and still not warming to this...can't get into the rhythm of some of the dialogue and some vocabulary seems anachronistic. Not getting a sense of the period it's supposed to be set in. Hoping the story takes off in part 2.
