I have become quite fond of this novel

'Strange that grief should now almost choke me, because another human being's eye has failed to greet mine.'

'She had loved without being asked to love, - a natural, sometimes an inevitable chance, but big with misery.' Some real gems in this book so far!

With some classics it takes me a while to understand what's going on in the story and I'm currently going through that with Shirley. Just reading page after page hoping that it'll all click soon!
