I have not read the Histories in a long time, perhaps I should again. This book however goes through the histories, page by page, describing the area during Herodotus's time and then what it is today (or was a couple of years ago). I had forgotten how preoccupied Herodotus was with sex and how many times and different forms of sex are mentioned in the Histories.

This book is interesting but rather torturous to read. Not sure if it just the subject matter or the author's style but I am not just not getting into this book.
