Ancient Hawaiian history is fascinating. It’s interesting the similarities in cultures that can be drawn; especially thinking about the Inca empire and early medieval England. The fact that these monarchical histories are so similar points in favor of the stance that western contact, although carrying technological advances, was not genetically superior to Hawaiians. Their brains came up with the same government.

Watching the phases of the moon to know when to plant, build structures, and fish is a scientific observation worth noting in ancient Hawaiian culture.

I’m fascinated by the mythological/historical references to Hawaii of the past that reference the proper noun names of places people involved. I think I will need to compile all the references in a notebook and check them against a more holistic account of Hawaiian history.

Regarding the family of Kamanawa on Océane Pointe in 2005: “I explained that the night marchers were here long before us, and instead of attempting to cleanse or bless the home to be rid of them, it would be easier to come to an understanding and adjust.”

—An interesting, noninvasive way of interacting with the world as something arriving to a preexisting ecosystem.
