The reasons why people hate this book are becoming clearer and clearer to me. It's pretty complicated on top of being overeducated. But I can't bring myself to hate it. Not even dislike it. I love the ambition, the scope and originality of it.

This novel garnered pretty polarizing reviews and it's easy to see why. While I love the concept and the angle on the weight of history, the meta-narrators can be pretty insufferable. They say at some point that teenage sex is Edwardian. What the fuck does it even mean?
