putting this on hold indefinitely. it's hard to get past graham-dixon's unnecessarily rude rebuttals of interpretations he clearly finds annoying (possibly even distasteful). there are better books with which to spend the last of winter break.

debating whether to finish this, or at least put it off. he keeps dissing queer views of paintings, calling them "mild" and "flimsy" in the latest instance. (says you, heterosexual cis man.) and he'll go on tangents that either are not prefaced well or are just plain unnecessary. if somebody like me - a champion for context and a geek for esoteric details - is telling the book to get on with it already, well then.
