Believer in the power of writing coming from short passages, so his style fits his thoughts on reading . . . lectured around the country . . . met Coleridge, Wordsworth in England -- not much sympathy developed, but lifelong friendship with Macauley. 2nd wife poked fun at him with writings intended only for family.
