I thank this book for finding its way into my life during a dark time

God this book made me THINK; it made me CRY, and think even harder, about family dynamics, past relationship, friendships, communities, the patriarchy, womanhood, and my deafening solitude. Man I was healed and shattered from multiple dimensions when reading this. Though at times the preachy tone of the writing lost me here and there, but the truth in bell hooks’ sentences are real.
