I have always like how the husband and wife team of Eddings have written fantasy. I have read nearly every book written by them, and will continue to do so (at least until they write a turkey).

Ever since I read The Cat Who Walks Through Walls, I have loved talking cat characters. Eddings does not disappoint with the talking cat, who also happens to be a goddess.

So I have been on a steady SciFi kick for a while now. Decided to read some fantasy from a pair of authors whose previous works I have liked.
