So far, exciting. Burgoyne marching to his destiny, smashing rebels as he goes, with quite a bit of help from German soldiers and vengeful native Americans. Colonials spread thin. Hamilton's New York City has mostly jumped on the British bandwagon. More new Yorkers fought alongside British and loyalists than joined the rebels.

So far good introduction. Atkinson loves using large round numbers to convey immensities- he did so throughout his liberation trilogy showing the scale of the allies material advantages, and he does so again in his prologue, showing what the French crown, and specifically a very young Lafayette bring to table for the American rebels.
