I really do not mean this in a negative way--I think this might be a better fit for Middle Grade vs YA. I think it's good so far but the sentence structure is a little basic which I'm not sure if that's just a stylistic choice--I'm unfamiliar with the author's other work, but also the characters feel a lot younger than they are supposed to be.
